glowbug Refund Policy
Draft for legal review. Version 2026-10-16. This policy is part of the Terms of Service.
Your country's law may give you more than this policy. If it does, the law applies.
1. Terms used here
- Used means that, after the purchase, you used at least one answer, background task or dictation on the paid plan.
- Used share means the larger of (a) the days that have passed in the paid period or pass, divided by its total days, and (b) the answers you used, divided by the answers the plan includes for that period.
- Pro-rata refund means the price you paid minus the used share of that price.
2. Korea (E-Commerce Act)
These rules apply if you live in Korea, whatever way you paid.
- Within 7 days, not used: you can withdraw and get a full refund. The 7 days start on the day you pay, or on the day the plan becomes available to you if that is later (Art. 17(1)).
- Within 7 days, used: under Art. 17(2)(5), you can't withdraw the part of a digital service that has already been provided. The rest is not affected, so we give a pro-rata refund with no fee.
- After 7 days (early termination): you can end a subscription or pass early at any time. We refund the price minus the used share, minus a fee of 10% of the remaining amount. This follows the Fair Trade Commission's Consumer Dispute Settlement Criteria for internet content. Alternatively, cancel auto-renewal and keep the plan until the period ends, with no fee.
- If the service differs from what we described or advertised: you can withdraw within 3 months of the start of the service, or within 30 days of when you found out or could have found out, and get a full refund (Art. 17(3)).
- What we do so you can make an informed choice (Art. 17(6)): the free plan and the anonymous trial let you try glowbug before you pay. The pricing and payment pages say clearly that withdrawal is limited once the service is used. You confirm this when you consent at checkout.
- Timing: we refund within 3 business days of receiving the withdrawal (Art. 18). For card payments, we ask the card company to cancel the charge within that time. Mobile phone billing can be cancelled in the month of payment; after that, and for culture gift certificates, we refund by bank transfer to an account in your name.
3. EU, EEA and UK: 14-day right of withdrawal
- You can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of the contract, without giving a reason.
- If you asked us to start providing the service during those 14 days, you pay an amount proportional to the days of service you received before you withdrew. We refund the rest. We don't charge any other fee.
- We repay you within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, using the same means of payment you used, unless you expressly agree to something else. You pay no fees for the refund.
- UK: the same 14-day right applies. Once the UK subscription rules take effect (expected in 2027), you will also have a 14-day cooling-off period after each renewal.
Withdraw from contract here
- Paddle purchases: in the app, open Account and press "cancel or change subscription". In Paddle's portal, choose to cancel or request a refund. You can also reply to any Paddle receipt or use paddle.net.
- Other purchases: email [email protected] with the subject "Withdrawal". Include your name, your account email and the order you are withdrawing from. You don't need to give a reason.
- We confirm your withdrawal by email, with the date and time we received it.
- You can also use this model form: "To glowbug (글로우버그), [주소], [email protected]: I hereby withdraw from my contract for glowbug (plan or pass), ordered on (date). Name: … Account email: … Date: …"
4. Paddle and PayPro Global purchases
- For purchases where Paddle or PayPro Global is the seller (see section 7 of the Terms), the seller's own buyer terms and refund policy apply, and it pays the refund to you.
- We apply this policy to those purchases as well. We tell the seller to refund anything this policy promises, even if its own terms would give you less.
- You can ask the seller or us. Either way, we make sure your request is handled.
5. Crypto passes (NOWPayments)
- Crypto payments can't be reversed, and their value changes. We therefore don't refund in crypto.
- If the law or this policy gives you a refund, we pay it, at your choice, in US dollars or as extra service time. A US dollar refund is based on the US dollar price shown at checkout and is paid to a bank or PayPal account in your name that you give us. We don't charge you a fee for it. We don't compensate for changes in the value of the crypto you sent.
- Outside those cases, crypto passes are non-refundable. We may still offer extra service time or a US dollar refund at our discretion, for example after a service problem.
6. Passes, gifts and top-ups
- Passes don't renew, so there is nothing to cancel. Sections 2 to 5 apply to refunds.
- Gifts: a code that hasn't been redeemed can be refunded in full to the buyer within 14 days of purchase. After a code is redeemed, the recipient's use counts as use, and the rules above apply to the buyer. A refund cancels the code, or removes the time it added.
- Top-ups: unused top-ups can be refunded in full within 14 days of purchase. If you have used part of a top-up, we refund the unused part.
7. Other countries
If you live in another country, its mandatory consumer law applies too. For example, in Brazil, you can withdraw within 7 days of purchase for a full refund (Consumer Defence Code Art. 49). In other cases, if you haven't used the paid features within 7 days of paying, you get a full refund.
8. When we are at fault
If glowbug is unavailable for a long time, or we fail to provide what you paid for, you get a full or pro-rata refund with no fee.
9. How to ask for a refund
- Email [email protected] from your account email, or ask through the seller (section 4). Tell us the order and the reason, if you want to.
- We answer within 3 business days. Your bank or payment provider may take a few more days to show the refund.
- After a refund, the paid plan, pass or top-up it covers ends.
- We may refuse a refund only where the law allows, for example for fraud or repeated abuse.
